IVF MERCOM ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Freetago social app and website (freetago.com). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Faroese data protection laws.

We collect the following personal data when you use Freetago:

Account information: Name/username, email address, profile picture (optional).
Content you create: Notes, messages, group posts, photos/videos in galleries, calendar events.
Interaction data: Friends/connections, likes, comments, notifications, TagMeet video call logs (metadata only, no call content stored).
Technical data: Device type, IP address, browser/app version, login times (for security and functionality).

We do not collect sensitive personal data (e.g., health, religion) unless voluntarily shared by you in the content you post.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

Provide and improve the app (create accounts, enable messaging/groups/calls, show notifications).
Ensure security and prevent abuse.
Send essential service messages (e.g., password reset, new friend requests).
Analyze usage anonymously to improve features (no individual profiling for ads).

We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Contract: To deliver the service you signed up for (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Legitimate interests: Security, fraud prevention, and app improvements (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Consent: For optional features (e.g., marketing emails – you can withdraw this at any time).

5. Who We Share Data With

We share data only when necessary to operate our services:

Hosting Provider: Simply.com (EU-based servers).
Merchant of Record: Paddle.com. Paddle acts as the authorized reseller of our digital products and is an independent Controller of your purchase and payment information. You can find Paddle's privacy policy here: https://paddle.com/privacy.
Legal Requirements: We do not share data with other third parties except if required by law or with your explicit consent.

6. International Transfers

While we aim to keep data within the EEA and the Faroe Islands (which has an adequacy decision from the EU), our partner Paddle may transfer personal data to recipients in other countries (including the UK and USA) in accordance with their Privacy Notice and using Standard Contractual Clauses to ensure a high level of protection.

7. Your Rights Under GDPR

You have the right to:

Access your data.
Rectify inaccurate data.
Erase your data ("right to be forgotten").
Restrict or object to processing.
Data portability.
Withdraw consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, please email us at privacy@freetago.com. We respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Faroese Data Protection Authority (Dátueftirlitið) or your local supervisory authority.

8. Data Retention

We keep your data only as long as your account is active or as needed for legal reasons. After a deletion request or prolonged inactivity (e.g., 2 years), data is anonymized or deleted.

9. Security

We use encryption, access controls, and regular security checks to protect your data. However, please note that no system is 100% secure.

10. Children

Freetago is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Significant changes will be notified to you in-app or via email.
